Strawberries & Scholars

Sunshine, strawberries, and smiles — our PhD students soak up summer at Karl’s Erlebnishof!

Our PhD students recently joined Prof. Jennifer Hund and Prof. Hauke Busch on a vibrant summer excursion to Karl’s Erlebnishof, a well-known agritourism destination famous for its expansive strawberry fields.

The group was greeted with perfect early summer weather—ideal conditions for a bountiful strawberry harvest. With baskets in hand, the students explored the scenic fields, picking ripe strawberries and enjoying the fresh taste of the season. The experience offered not just a break from research but also a chance to engage with local traditions and agriculture.

After the strawberry picking adventure, the students continued their visit with a delicious stop at the on-site restaurant. The menu featured an impressive variety of strawberry-themed treats, including strawberry-flavored drinks, strawberry cakes, homemade jellies, and more. It was a flavorful end to a day full of learning, laughter, and cultural exchange.

This memorable trip to Karl’s Erlebnishof reflects our commitment to offering enriching experiences for our international PhD exchange students, blending research with regional exploration.
